Support Our Children by Supporting Our Volunteers

This year, attendees of the statewide CASA conference will learn about recent legislative changes, working with other cultures, how to de-escalate aggressive individuals, techniques to write a better court report, and how to advocate for children with drug-addicted parents. They will hear firsthand from parents whose children were taken away from them, but who were able to successfully regain custody of their children, as well as from foster children about what it really means to have CASA volunteers on their sides. Workshops at this conference will provide critical and inspiring information that will help CASA volunteers to provide an even higher quality of advocacy for our state's abused and neglected children - ultimately helping to bring these children to safe and permanent homes more quickly.

Unfortunately, many volunteers who would like to attend will not be able to because of the $85 registration fee. Though WaCASA is able to subsidize the costs and provide a small number of scholarships, our own financial restrictions don't allow us to provide complimentary registration to anywhere near as many volunteers as we'd like. But you can help!

By becoming a conference sponsor, you'll be directly helping abused and neglected children by ensuring that their CASA volunteers are at peak performance... Not to mention that you'll get a whole treasure trove of benefits back to increase your company's positive and philanthropic public image!

Come treasure hunting!

Come treasure hunting with Washington State CASA at our 18th annual statewide conference!

Every year, WaCASA hosts a statewide conference that brings CASA volunteers together for a weekend of intensive training, networking, and collaborating. Though this year's conference will be one day instead of the usual two, we have a stellar (and growing!)  lineup of speakers who'll help to make this one of our best conferences ever!

This year's conference will be held on Saturday, October 9, 2010 at the Hyatt Regency Bellevue. Registration will be $85 for CASA volunteers and staff, and $125 for non-CASA community members, and includes an all-access pass to workshops, vendors, and meals. Because we know Bellevue is a haul for many of you, we were able to finagle a special discounted rate of $109 per night from the Hyatt - not bad for a fancy night out in Bellevue

In keeping with our treasure hunting theme, we'll be playing games and having contests to win free passes to the conference over the next few months - stay tuned here and on www.WashingtonStateCASA.org to make sure you're in the know! Our first treasure hunting game will start on June 14th - find the secret code on our website, descramble it, and then email the secret message to katie@wacasa.org. The first person to email Katie (our new intern) will win a pass to the conference!

Registration will open this summer... check www.washingtonstatecasa.org for more information.
